Vacancy
We are Antleron, a Leuven-based R&D start-up that develops custom bioprocess solutions across a wide range of life science applications, with a focus on advanced and personalized therapies. Using our unique technology toolbox, the Antleron team of multidisciplinary specialists invents and develops biomanufacturing solutions and infrastructure platforms to bring next-generation therapies faster and closer to patients in a sustainable way. Our technology toolbox combines digital twins and 3D printing with the power of cell biology to make our factory-of-the-future vision a reality.
We are currently looking for a 3D printing R&D engineer to strengthen our day-to-day 3D printing operations to enhance the development and integration of the Antleron technology in next-generation cell-based bioprocesses. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated person with a hands-on mentality and great organizational skills who feels at ease in a nonroutine, dynamic environment. The ability to work well with others as part of our cohesive team, take the initiative, and a willingness to expand your own knowledge and skillset to creatively solve problems are essential.
Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who can advance our 3D printing capabilities, using a range of industrial and research-grade 3D printing technologies to design, test, and create innovative parts. You can expect to take on the following responsibilities:
Taking the lead in setting up dedicated experiments to improve our innovative 3D printing process flows.
Translating application-driven questions from partners to actual functional 3D printed parts, as well as translating our own innovative ideas into new, functional parts.
Distilling clear and actionable insights from your findings that result in standard operating procedures and improved process flows.
Evaluating proposed actions on scalability and economics and contributing to the translation of established procedures from a lab into a manufacturing setup.
Working with a multidisciplinary team covering a broad range of expertise ranging from cell biology to chemical, material, and data engineers. Translating concerns/problems reported by the team into new experiments to find solutions in an adequate manner.
Staying up to date with, and reporting on, relevant scientific literature in a concise manner.
Requirements
We are looking for a hands-on engineer with a team mentality and a passion for continuous innovation. As we are a multidisciplinary team, an inquisitive mind with broad scientific interests and the willingness to learn will ensure you are a good fit for our working environment. In this context, the following characteristics are desirable for this position:
An MSc in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
Outstanding planning, organizational, and multi-tasking skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
A hands-on mentality and the ability to work independently in a highly collaborative R&D environment.
Broad interests and a creative mind capable of applying these interests in your work.
Eagerness to learn about new technologies.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (Dutch is not required but would be considered a bonus) and the ability to work in a team environment.
Knowledge of 3D printing, CAD, or design of experiments is a plus but not a requirement.
