Position description

MRM Health is looking for BS level (or higher) Associate Scientist to join its Translational Research Team in Ghent, Belgium, and translate pre-clinical and translational research into novel and differentiating products and, ultimately, breakthrough microbial strategies for the treatment of conditions associated to impaired intestinal health and immune diseases.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Working (semi-)independently to develop and implement new in vitro and ex vivo assays to study mechanisms underlying the efficacy of microbial interventions in the treatment of a variety of disorders, analyse the ensuing data and present results.

  • Similarly, investigation of host/pathogen interactions using a variety of biochemical and cell-based assays including primary cells, cellular co-cultures and patient-derived cell models in function of molecular endpoints relevant to modulating disease or disease onset.

  • Duties include techniques related to immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cell-based assays and cell culture, data analysis, among others. Additional techniques include quantitative PCR, RNA isolation and standard molecular biology techniques such as ELISA and Luminex-based assays.

  • Working across interdisciplinary teams and parallel projects in the design and development of microbial therapeutics.

  • Identifying opportunities to optimize workflows and increase efficiency, including supporting SOP development.

  • Providing clear and organized documents, records, and reports of experimental activities.

Required Qualifications

BS or MS degree in molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or related field.

Research experience with cell culture techniques, image analysis and knowledge of cellular immunology and/or cell metabolism is strongly preferred. Working experience as a lab technician in a research or clinical environment is preferred.

Highly organized, methodical, and motivated individual with good attention to detail. Must be a team player, able to work well in a group setting as well as independently in a fast-paced environment.
