Position description

MRM Health is looking for an experienced Bioinformatician to complement our discovery expertise and to guide our computational biology efforts in host-microbiome analysis. The successful candidate will be the main point-of-contact within the company for various omics work packages.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Analysis of microbiome and host data for internal and partnered projects

• Design and Analysis of multi-omics approaches including genomic, transcriptomics, and metabolomics data

• In-depth in silico microbial strain characterization

• Translating preclinical research into novel and differentiating products

• Data mining to supporting biomarker discovery in microbiome studies

• Setting up scientific workflow systems with applications in bioinformatics and data mining

• Participation in the design of experiments to ensure robust statistical analyses are conducted

• Working closely with internal and external team members and partners to find biological signals in data

• Managing our interactions with external data providers

• Planning, scheduling deadlines and mentoring junior members of the research team

Required Qualifications

• Post-graduate degree (PhD preferred) in bioinformatics, (bio)engineering, biotechnology or equivalent with at least 5 years’ experience as a bioinformatician in life sciences. Industry experience is a plus.

• Proficiency in at least one programming language is required (e.g. Python, R, Bash).

• Knowledge or background in microbiology is highly recommended.

• Knowledge or background in biostatistics and/or design of experiments is a plus.

• Familiarity with databases of genome annotations, pathways, and published experimental results for the host and microbiome

• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines on multiple projects at the same time

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members
