We have an excellent opportunity for a Bioinformatics Support Engineer to join the fast-growing and exciting Genomics Software Solutions division (based out of Leuven or Ghent, Belgium), whose culture is results-oriented, professional, and rooted in teamwork and innovation. In this position, you will help maintain and support our next generation of cloud-based clinical bioinformatics solutions. To enable analysis and interpretation of sophisticated genomics data in routine clinical practice and research environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports and handles technical queries from customers, evaluating the products regarding use and functionality to bring to a successful conclusion.

  • Provides installation, training, and on-site customization, and professional services delivery support as needed.

  • Proactively identifies potential customer issues across Agilent software solutions and coordinates corporate resources to find solutions.

  • Supports account managers in attending to customer satisfaction & product relevance

  • Proactively provides feedback on product direction and market/customer technical requirements to the team.

Qualifications:

  • a degree in Life Science, Computer Science or equivalent

  • knowledge in Bioinformatics, Linux/Unix, Scripting (Python)

  • Knowledge or experience in cloud-based / SaaS software – familiarity AWS and deployment environment in cloud services is an advantage, but we offer training.

  • Familiarity with Next-generation sequencing (NGS) within various clinical domains (rare diseases, pathology, reproductive genetics etc.) is a plus.

Apart from these more technical skills, we are also looking for:

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to engage and identify customer needs in a calm manner to handle challenging situations optimally.

  • Able to apply a logical approach to troubleshooting skills.

  • Can work closely in a team, and optimally independently.
