We specialise in developing bioinformatics workflows in an R&D context.

What we need

We are looking for a scientifically minded individual to become part of the core of Data Intuitive.

Data Intuitive is starting up a new chapter and needs a motivated, experienced key person to help us make this major step. A motivated individual eager to contribute to our strategic projects in data science through workflow implementations.

This is a full‑time role, working remotely predominantly with a lot of flexibility in different ways to suit your personal circumstances.

The team meets in the region of Ghent at a shared working space at key times throughout the year.

Job requirements

  • Understanding of fundamental biological principles

  • A degree in bioinformatics, software engineering, computational biology, or other degree or proven experience in line with the requirements for this job

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong problem‑solving skills

  • Independent and team player

  • Driven by a technological curiosity and desire to make things better

  • Fluent in English

Technical skills

  • Experience with scripting languages (shell, python, R, etc.)

  • Experience with using version control tools (Git/GitHub) and Jira

  • Good knowledge of Linux-based operating systems, libraries and tools

  • General knowledge of software build automation (make, etc.)

Nice to haves:

  • Knowledge of modern workflow management systems (Nextflow, Snakemake, …)

  • Knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Singularity, Kubernetes, …)

  • Knowledge of high-performance computing environment

  • Knowledge of single-cell omics (scRNA-seq, multi-omics)
