miDiagnostics is developing a new generation of disposable tests that require only drops of blood and allow detection of cells, proteins, nucleic acids, and/or small molecules. Our core technology is a novel silicon-based nanofluidic processor (nFP) that automatically processes the blood sample without the need of pumps. miDiagnostics’ ambition is to remove the need for complex and costly instrumentation enabling medical decisions to be taken at the point of need or remote areas with a high level of comfort to both patients and caregivers.
You will become part of a team of scientist and engineers developing new devices for diagnostic testing. In your role as Computational Technology Engineer you will help transition the algorithmic, computational and electronical components of our prototype solutions to a level of new level of maturity ready for productization. In this very exciting role you are active on the cross-section of hardware, software and firmware developments while maintaining close links with our state of the art algorithmic developments in terms of image processing and artificial intelligence.
Leading all activities relating to the computational elements of (medical) instrumentation design and development, from hardware design to coding
Being active at the cross-section between hardware, software and electronics engineering
(Co-)Defining the technology stack, in terms of computational hardware, software and firmware
Optimize the prototype image processing, computer vision and AI algorithms onto various computational platforms such as embedded & edge devices and cloud.
Contribute to the roadmap of system and technology R&D activities
Interact with research teams and product development teams
Technology scouting & management: employ a structured approach towards identifying emerging technologies and advancing them from concept to solution
Profile and competences
Knowledge of or exposure to image processing, computer vision and AI algorithms and techniques, preferably in an industrialized context
Hands-on technology and hardware hacking capabilities
Lateral thinking abilities, knowledgeable in science and technology in general, being cross-disciplinary orientated and having an imaginative and forward-thinking personality
Master’s degree in civil engineering with a specialization in computer science or electronics, or equivalent through experience
At least 5 years of software product development experience, preferentially in a diagnostic or medical domain
Familiar with optimizing image processing & computer vision algorithms for CPU and GPU platforms
Expert experience with Python is mandatory
Knowledge of MATLAB is considered a plus
Knowledge of any additional programming language such as C++ is considered a plus
Experience in reviewing contract manufacturer’s mechanical/optical/software specifications, test plans, verification documentation
Strong leadership and communication skills
Detail-oriented, result-focused and quality driven
Strong analytical and planning skills
An understanding of relevant regulatory requirements within the IVD/medical industry is a plus
Fluent in English
