Reporting directly to the Global Head of LMR Innovation, the LMR External Science Lead procures and vets relevant scientific information of strategic interest to LMR, influencing the future of the LMR modalities and platforms. This is performed in close collaboration with all stakeholders, i.e. the LMR project heads/scientists, the Sanofi Business Development and Licensing (BD&L) team, the Sanofi Knowledge Management and Learning (KM&L) team and the Sanofi Scientific Relations & Initiatives (SRI) team.
As MR External Science Lead you will consult various information sources (e.g. scientific publications, media, conference reports, etc.), identified on own initiative, within the LMR organization and/or within the BD&L, KM&L and SRI organization. This person provides regular updates to the different stakeholders and represents Sanofi at external conferences.
Additionally, you will coordinate the submission of national and international governmental funding programs to further strengthen LMR’s innovation portfolio, in consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
This position offers an unparalleled opportunity for exposure to a comprehensive collection of technologies at the forefront of biologics modality drug discovery and to a broad range of internal/external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Coordinates the LMR technology landscaping, processing and following up on identification of novel technologies, potential collaborators and information published by competitors within the innovation areas of interest
Screens literature, external reports and other sources of external news/social media for the identification of technologies/companies of interest for Sanofi’s innovation portfolio
Interacts with the involved LMR key stakeholders (project heads, area experts)
Interacts with Business Development and Licensing team
Interacts with Knowledge Management and Learning team
Interacts with the local Scientific Relations & Initiatives teams
Interacts with external partners (academic institutes, companies, funding agencies)
Provides operational framework for tracking the landscape of novel technologies
Provides operational framework for tracking LMR involvement in due diligences
Coordinate submission of governmental funding programs (national, international), in close interaction with the involved Sanofi project heads/scientists and external partners
About you
Education:
PhD or Master in life sciences
Experience:
5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry (R&D)
Experience with drug development of biologic modalities (antibodies, NANOBODY® molecules, antibody fragments, etc)
Experience with drug development in (immuno-)oncology, immunology or inflammatory diseases is a plus
Technical skills:
Ability to rapidly develop a good understanding of the different aspects of the LMR platform
High scientific curiosity and creative thinker.
High affinity for innovation
Vigilance to screen literature/external news/social media for the identification of technologies/companies of interest for Sanofi’s innovation portfolio
Soft skills:
Ability to work cross-project in a global multidisciplinary team
Strong operational skills; ability to set up operational frameworks to process the collected information
Skills to manage multiple tasks in parallel
Highly proficient in communication and presentation - written and oral, fluent in English
Team-player with excellent communication skills
