Will you write history with the development of your cheese from microbially obtained protein?

We are looking for a Head of Food Science with a strong interest and experience in dairy proteins and taking novel food ingredients from applied research to commercialization. The successful candidate should be a team player with a creative mindset. A person that enjoys challenges, with a passion for food, sustainability and health.

 Job description:

  • Lead the cheese development activities with our microbially produced milk proteins

    • Leading the Food Science team

    • Create vegan cheese prototypes and characterize the chemical, physical and sensory properties

  • Managing the designed experiments in the lab/food kitchen, followed by data collection, data analysis and data interpretation

  • Coordinate and manage external research collaborations

  • Contribute to IP generation

  • Collaborate with the different departments (upstream and downstream processing) from a food and functionality perspective

  • Collaborate with our cheese expert consultants, as well as our external partners

 

Your profile:

  • Academic degree in Food Science or Food (Bio)technology

  • Min. 5 years experience in the field of food proteins

  • Good knowledge of (novel) food ingredients and their functionality (you know all about taste and texture!)

  • An analytical mindset and the ability to translate research data into product development

  • Ability to think innovatively

  • A good team motivator and willing to take initiative to get projects accomplished

  • Flexible within a start-up environment, able to take on a variety of tasks

  • Great communication, organization and collaborative skills

 

Is a plus, if you have:

  • Hands-on experience with developing novel products, and processes in dairy and/or alt-dairy

  • Experience in cheese manufacturing (traditional and/or vegan)

  • Hands-on experience with texture analysis, rheology, and emulsification techniques

  • Familiarity with novel food regulations
