To strengthen and guide our dedicated team, Biotalys is looking for an experienced heavy chain antibody expert as Head of Lead Generation to further develop our AGROBODY Foundry™ platform within an international environment. Reporting to the Biotalys Chief Scientific Officer, you will guide and promote the scientific development of multidisciplinary Lead Generation teams and work closely with the teams contributing to the delivery of AGROBODY™ bioactive leads aligned with our Ag and Food Business requirements, leveraging and developing competitive internal expertise complemented with external partnerships. You are passionate, enthusiastic and inspiring and will provide in-depth scientific leadership to explore novel technologies for continuous improvements and lead the internal team to achieve innovative, efficient and productive approaches in a thriving collaborative environment.
Scope of your job
Accountable for directing Lead Generation teams working on Lead Identification, Early Lead Characterization and Early Lead Developability
Scientific leadership and strategic vision to assess and further strengthen the Team
Accountable for delivering high-quality Leads further into our pipeline
Scouting for, assessing and leading scientific partnership efforts to complement internal capabilities on all technical aspects such as antigen identification, antigen production, immunization, lead selection, automation, data digitalization, and computational biology
Member of Biotalys Management Team, executing and reporting the scientific and technical progress of the Lead Generation team
Accountable for creating a collaborative and constructive environment where exploration is enabled and team members are motivated by the support and the freedom in uncharted scientific areas
Working closely with other group leaders in Lead Characterization, Analytics, Strain Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Development, Business Development and Project Management ensuring cohesive approach and open communication for setting the targets for and delivery of the programs, the partnerships and the platform development
Leading platform continuous improvement initiatives to deliver high-quality bioactives, increase R&D efficiency and generate IP with measurable targets. Champion innovative ideas and facilitate the development and implementation of technologies to improve efficiency and decrease cycle times of discovery workflows
Accountable for delivery of high-quality scientific results, scientific publications and IP to further strengthen the credibility and competitiveness of Biotalys AGROBODY™ Foundry platform
Driven by the development capability & talent, inspire and motivate the team, support and identify development opportunities to allow individuals to realise their full potential and ambition
What we are looking for
PhD in biological sciences or equivalent with at least 8 years of experience in antibody discovery
Expertise in target selection and validation, immunization and selection strategies is key
Subject matter expertise with international exposure in antibody discovery systems
Strong desire to explore new fields and bridge the human therapeutics progress on antibody discovery with the opportunity and needs in the Agriculture and Food space
Track record of published scientific data with the ability to identify and resolve scientific questions
Strong line and matrix leadership skills with experience in building and motivating teams
Motivated to drive operational excellence, including support for efficiency/productivity initiatives
Ability to advance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Track record of building collaborations internally and externally
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent reporting and communication skills (fluent in English, written and spoken).
Positive attitude, solid work ethic, strong team player and self-motivated individual desired
Strong analytical and data interpretations skills
