The VIB Technologies program serves as the centralized scientific research infrastructure of the institute, providing scientists with access to cutting-edge, innovative technologies. It includes a team of over 120 staff and 16 state-of-the-art core facilities, each focused on specific technologies and located across VIB sites in Ghent, Leuven, Antwerp and Brussels. These core facilities play a crucial role in supporting VIB's +1,800 researchers with their expertise and advanced resources.

Job description 

VIB HR is looking for an 80% – 100% HR Business Partner to support VIB Technologies. As a vital link between HR headquarters and these vibrant teams, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving HR initiatives that inspire growth, foster innovation and enhance the overall employee experience.

This position offers the opportunity to lead strategic HR projects, provide expert guidance to leadership and contribute to the development of a world-class research institute. Your Role and Responsibilities

  • shape strategy: collaborate with the HR team to design and implement tailored HR strategies, tools and policies that align with the unique needs of VIB Technologies.
  • partner with leaders: act as a trusted advisor, supporting management in navigating team dynamics, driving change, and fostering professional development
  • lead projects: initiate and guide impactful projects focusing on wellbeing, leadership, and open feedback, enhancing the overall employee experience.
  • operational excellence: oversee the workforce planning, recruitment, HR reporting, and day-to-day operations to ensure seamless support for all teams within VIB technologies.

You will be part of the HR team and report to the HR director.

Profile

  • You hold a Master's degree in human sciences or equivalent experience, along with 5+ years of proven success in a similar HR role
  • You are a people person, skilled in social legislation, with both feet on the ground to get things done.
  • Leading and managing projects is your thing—you know how to turn ideas into action.
  • You have a curious mind, constantly seeing opportunities to improve.
  • You have a keen awareness of organizational dynamics and love staying ahead of the curve with fresh ideas.
  • Your communication and interpersonal skills make you a trusted colleague.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Dutch, you’re ready to connect and communicate effectively.
  • You are committed to learning, growing, and investing in your personal development.
  • You are willing to split your work time between Ghent, Leuven, Brussels and Antwerp to stay connected and available to support your colleagues at VIB Technologies at all locations.
