The Laboratory for Glia Biology, headed by Dr. Matthew Holt, is a vibrant environment where key issues relating to the role of astrocytes in the control of neuronal circuits are investigated. 

We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated postdoc to work with us on a project investigating the role of astrocytes in controlling plasticity in the adult visual cortex (Hennes et al., Glia, 2020; Bayraktar et al., Nat Neurosci, 2020). The candidate will investigate astrocyte-neuron interactions using acute cortical slices in combination with 2-photon imaging (of genetically encoded Ca2+ and cAMP sensors) and electrophysiology.



  • Ph.D. in neurobiology or physiology

  • Experience in imaging and/or electrophysiology

  • A solid publication record with first-author research publication(s) in peer-reviewed international journals.

  • Critical mindset, fast learner & team player

  • Project management and effective communication skills

  • Good mastery of English language


  • Knowledge of astrocyte biology
