General job description
The Research Associate Drug Product Development is responsible for the execution of formulation development activities related to drug delivery systems used for delivery of nucleic acids to different organs and cells, under the supervision of a Senior Scientist Drug Product Development.
The Research Associate role is a hands-on position focused on experimental laboratory work and techniques for stability study, manufacturing feasibility assessment and scale-up of RNA formulations.
The candidate will be part of the Drug Product Development team and the role is a permanent position. This position reports to Senior Scientist Drug Substance and Drug Product Development and will be based in Gent as described above.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Research Associate Drug Product Development’s duties shall include, but not be limited to:
Preparation of LNPs using micro-fluidic mixing, T-mixing and impingement jets mixing
Quenching and ethanol removal by dialysis and TFF, sterile filtration
Lyophilization of mRNA/LNPs
Analytical techniques including size and PDI by zetasizer, pH, osmolality, encapsulation efficiency, mRNA content, integrity, water content
Assist in development of new techniques and assays
Participate in lab supply ordering, inventory management, maintenance of equipment and lab areas
Data processing, data analysis and good documentation practices using electronic lab notebook, protocol- and report writing
Job requirements
Education:
Bachelor's in biotechnology/laboratory science, biomedical sciences or similar
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in academic or biotech industry In a similar function. Recently qualified Bachelors may be considered
Broad technical expertise and mastering of several laboratory techniques
Working knowledge of good laboratory practices and lab quality assurance is a plus
Other Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Detail-oriented and accurate in following instructions, record keeping and completion of reports
Able to perform experimental troubleshooting and propose technical solutions.
Scientific integrity
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal teams.
Fluent in English;
Well-organized, well-structured, hands-on, result-focused;
Able to work under stringent timelines
Enthusiastic, proactive, flexible and able to multitask;
Understanding of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
