Research Associate Protein Discovery

Precirix is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to extending and improving the lives of cancer patients by designing and developing novel radiopharmaceuticals, using camelid-derived single-domain antibodies (sdAb) labelled with radioisotopes. The company’s lead product, CAM-H2, is being evaluated in a Phase I/II trial targeting metastatic HER2-positive cancer. In addition, the company has two product candidates in preclinical stage and is further broadening its platform through research on new targets, different isotopes, linker technology and combination therapies. For the expansion of our Protein R&D team based in Brussels, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic and talented Research Associate to work in our new laboratories starting from September.

Purpose of the Position

As Research Associate Protein Discovery you will contribute to the discovery, development and characterization of camelid single-domain antibodies (sdAbs) to feed the company’s preclinical and clinical pipeline of targeted radionuclide therapeutics. You will be involved in projects that focus on the identification of new sdAbs, their hit-to-lead screening and biochemical characterization. Also, you will work on the development of novel protein conjugation strategies. Additionally, you will contribute to analytical assay development and support the CMC development to bring our products from preclinical to clinical phase.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific activities:

• Perform research activities within the scope of an assigned work package and timing, under direct supervision of experienced scientists

• Conduct experiments in recombinant protein expression, purification, conjugation and characterization

• Contribute to the good functioning of the lab

• Active in multiple projects inside the company

• Independently interpret, document, retain and summarize experimental data and results in adequate systems (e.g. electronic lab notebooks and databases)

Communication

• Report (written and orally) about progress and conclusions of work packages to the R&D leadership team

• Report experimental data and results during recurring R&D team meetings

• Prepare written reports, summaries, manuscripts and other documents as appropriate

Skills, Expertise and Contribution

• Relevant experience in molecular biology is a must

• Experience in recombinant protein expression and purification (bacterial, yeast and/or eukaryotic expression systems), protein conjugation strategies, and/or analytical characterization is a plus

• Keep abreast with relevant scientific and/or technical developments. Search literature and other sources independently and apply knowledge on the job

• Work independently within the scope of assigned work package and support others

Qualifications

Expected educational qualifications: MSc or BSc with equivalent experience in a relevant field of life sciences (Bio-engineering Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences)
