Their customers rely on our expertise in RNA biomarker discovery, development and validation, their pioneering role in liquid biopsies and non-coding RNA, and their experience with clinical trials to accelerate the development of their diagnostics and therapeutics. Their service portfolio is built on state-of-the-art technologies such as RNA sequencing, high-throughput qPCR and digital PCR, all combined with advanced data analysis methods.
As a scientist, you will coordinate internal projects, oversee and plan lab resources, coach lab technicians, support on different levels as subject matter expert by sharing scientific expertise and knowledge and execute hands-on lab work. You should have an open eye for options beyond the project scope that provide interesting new scientific options and business opportunities.
Projects will start in the COVID19 field and will gradually grow towards the company's CRO services.
Tasks and responsibilities
Prepare and coordinate the work of the COVID teams of lab technicians during project execution for several projects in parallel. You are responsible for planning and organization, ad hocproblem solving, implementation of solutions and decision making for your assigned projects in the wet lab
Manage internal R&D COVID projects from A to Z
Support the dry lab, project management and business development teams by sharing technical and scientific expertise and knowledge
Occasionally execute wet lab work to understand the practical insides of (new) techniques
Coaching of colleagues during internal training sessions or troubleshooting
Work according to the internal lab standards (ISO 17025, GCLP guideline), follow and apply the internal procedures, with assistance of the quality department
Ensure proper recordkeeping during all aspects of your activities and guarantee complete traceability by making adequate and timely registrations
Requested competences and skills:
A PhD or master degree combined with 2+ years of experience in scientific research in industry setting (biotechnology/pharma sector). More specific, profound experience with qPCR, NGS and/or dPCR technology (1 of the 3 technologies is mandatory)
Knowledge of cell culture, tissue culture, sequencing is an important asset.
2+ years of experience in guiding lab technicians
Excellent writing- and reporting/presentation skills (scientific level)
Proven planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
Able to handle multiple projects and changing priorities
Constructive mindset and real team player helping teams to overcome roadblocks
Driven, energetic, autonomous and proactive
Open for occasional weekend work
Preferably Dutch as mother tongue, fluent in English (writing and speaking)
