Biotalys, an AgTech company focused on addressing food protection challenges with protein-based biocontrol solutions for a more sustainable and safer food supply, was joined today by Flemish Minister of Agriculture and Innovation, Hilde Crevits, to mark the official opening of its new headquarters and laboratories in the vibrant biotech cluster in Ghent.

The ceremony, which was postponed from January due to COVID-19 restrictions, was also attended by close to 70 people, including Biotalys’ global executives and employees, media and local stakeholders. The inauguration consisted of a speech by both CEO Patrice Sellès and Minister Crevits, followed by a tour of the Company’s facilities.

Biotalys’ new corporate headquarters consists of 1,800 square meters of laboratory and technical space, as well as 800 square meters of office space, and is home to the Company’s R&D operations as well as most of the management and staff functions. The move to the new R&D premises is a significant next step for the Company as it continues to further develop its product pipeline and build a sustainable and safe future of food supply post the Company’s successful IPO in July. The new office is also in line with Biotalys’ environmental values, and allows the Company to deliver operational and energy efficiencies through modern sustainable applications and technologies. Furthermore, the site allows for future expansion to keep pace with the envisaged growth of the Company.

"It was a delight to welcome all who attended the opening of our new headquarters and laboratories earlier today. The new premises allow Biotalys to accommodate our staff in state-of-the-art facilities and will provide us with the required tools, space and conditions to continue our efforts in developing and expanding our product pipeline" commented Patrice Sellès, Chief Executive Officer of Biotalys.

"Biotalys is at the forefront of the world’s most innovative agricultural technology platforms to ensure safer and more sustainable food protection and we are proud to have such an exciting company headquartered here, further solidifying our region as a leading biotech hub in Europe. I am honoured to officially open Biotalys’ new headquarters and welcome such an innovative company to these new premises in Ghent," added Hilde Crevits, Flemish Minister of Agriculture and Innovation.

Alongside Biotalys’ newly inaugurated headquarters in Ghent, Belgium, the Company also has an existing office in its North American subsidiary in North Carolina, USA, which accommodates a dedicated team preparing the market introduction of the Company’s first protein-based biocontrol Evoca™ for the US market planned for H2 2022, pending regulatory approval.
