Vacancy
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in bioinformatics and computational analysis to join the laboratory of Mucosal Immunology led by Prof. Gianluca Matteoli at the Translational Research Center for Gastrointestinal Disorders (TARGID), Department of Chronic Diseases, Metabolism, KU Leuven, Belgium. This position involves working on the transcriptomic landscape of intestinal inflammation and tissue damage with clear implications for intestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). You will work closely with our clinical and translational teams to identify new therapeutic targets that can be implemented directly in clinical settings. The candidate will be part of a research program that integrates experimental models, patient material, and cutting-edge technologies (e.g., single-cell/nuclei and spatial transcriptomics) to understand how intestinal homeostasis is maintained and how breakdowns in these processes lead to IBD. The research group investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying intestinal homeostasis and how its disruption contributes to IBD.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a postdoc with significant experience in bioinformatics and computational analysis, particularly with a focus on single-cell/nuclei RNA-seq, RNA-seq, and spatial transcriptomics data.
Key duties will include data analysis, visualization, and interpretation of high-throughput transcriptomic datasets.
The candidate will also actively collaborate with PhD students and researchers, contribute to other lab projects, and present findings to both specialized and general audiences.
Profile
A PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field.
Extensive experience in bioinformatics analysis, including statistical and computational approaches.
Programming skills in R, Python, Matlab, or similar languages.
A strong interest in immunology and experience with large-scale data analysis.
Experience with machine learning approaches is an asset.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
Offer
The successful candidate will work in an international, highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, closely working with clinical partners to translate experimental findings into therapeutic approaches.
Ongoing collaborations with national and international colleagues provide excellent opportunities for career development.
A competitive salary in an exciting, positive, creative, challenging and rewarding place to work.
