On October 14th 2021 Flanders Vaccine is happy to host its sixth edition of Immunity for Health. We hope to meet you again in person in Ghent, Belgium but online participation is also possible.

This year the theme is “Animal models and alternatives for the development of vaccines”.

In recent years substantial progress has been made in reducing and replacing the number of animals used for pre-clinical vaccine research, e.g. through the use of computational immunology to design new vaccine candidates.  However, animal experiments remain essential if we want to make the necessary progress in medicine and life science.

The programme will cover the importance of animal models for pre-clinical studies, but also highlight innovative alternatives such as in-vitro and in-silico models for future vaccine development. The challenges in moving forward and beyond animal models in research, such as ethical and regulatory issues will be discussed in a vibrant panel debate at the end of the event.

Renowned experts in the field will share their latest scientific data with us! Research groups and sme’s will be given the opportunity to share their innovative ideas, technologies or new products with the audience during the pitch sessions.
