Sophie Stegen joins Euronext as new Head of Listing

We are delighted to inform you of the formal installation of Benoît van den Hove as the new Chief Executive Officer of Euronext Brussels, following the official announcement earlier this year.

To mark this special occasion, a bell-ringing ceremony was held this morning to open the first day of trading with our new CEO, previous CEO and new Head of Listing.

Benoît van den Hove has been Head of Listing at Euronext Brussels since July 2018. He has more than 20 years of experience in various roles in the financial sector, advising Belgian and international clients on their financing needs through capital markets transactions and interactions with regulators. Prior to joining Euronext, he spent 17 years at global Benelux bank ING, and two years at international law firm Linklaters.

Benoît’s experience as local head of listings, his deep knowledge of market dynamics, and his close connection with local stakeholders make him ideally placed to lead the Brussels operations and teams.

Benoît takes over the reins from Vincent van Dessel, who stepped down as CEO of Euronext Brussels on 1 July 2023 as he will reach retirement age in November 2023. Vincent will continue to act as Chairman of Euronext Brussels until 1 December 2023. We thank Vincent warmly for all that he has done for Euronext and the Belgian ecosystem through his unwavering commitment and dedication to Belgian companies, their stakeholders, the wider financial markets and the Euronext Brussels family.

Vincent Van Dessel became CEO of Euronext Brussels in September 2009, having previously held the role of General Manager of Euronext Brussels from 2003 to 2009. He started his career as a stockbroker in 1984 and joined the Brussels Stock Exchange in 1992 as Director Markets and Listing, later becoming a member of the managing board of the Brussels Exchanges. Upon the merger of the Amsterdam, Paris and Brussels exchanges to form Euronext in September 2000, he became a member of the Executive Committee. From January 2000 to June 2003, Vincent was Chairman of the Market Authority of the Brussels Exchanges, responsible for member admission, listing, company information and the supervision of the markets.

With Benoît stepping up as new CEO, we are pleased to announce that Sophie Stegen has joined Euronext Brussels on 1 July as our new Head of Listing. Before joining the Belgian exchange, Sophie worked as Senior Manager in Audit and Assurance for Deloitte in Brussels. Sophie has worked with both publicly and family-owned businesses, as well as in assurance and advisory work, supporting clients throughout their transaction journey. She has been involved in various complex transactional projects across M&A, carve-outs and transactional work linked to capital markets, and has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by the capital markets for businesses and leaders.

We look forward to continuing to work closely with you to support Belgian companies in making the most of the financial markets, whether through raising capital, investing and trading, or benefitting from our corporate services, while ensuring that Euronext Brussels continues to play a key role in the European financial ecosystem and in a sustainable future.

Together, we shape capital markets for future generations.
